Recent studies have found a correlation between recovery time after a hard workout, and consuming beetroot.

A study conducted at the University of North Umbria had 30 physically active male participants complete 100 intensive jump exercises, causing muscle damage in their legs. Over the following three days, these participants were required to drink either 250mL of the beetroot juice or a placebo.

The researchers found that participants consuming the beetroot-enhanced juice following the workout had reduced muscle soreness and 18% increased performance compared to the placebo group.
