The Truth About Plant-Based Omega Oils
The Truth About Plant-Based Omega Oils

Consuming oils loaded with omega 6 can abnormally alter our tissue saturation which creates an inflammatory process throughout the body.

Current research suggests that a tissue saturation ratio of 1:3 (omega 3 to omega 6) is ideal. However, in the modern Western diet (comprised of ultra processed foods containing seed oils), the ratio can be as high as 1:30 and this is thought to be a major cause of inflammation and heart disease.

Tips:

Χ   AVOID seed oils high in omega 6 and introduce oils that have a more ideal omega 3:6 ratio.

Χ   Flaxseed oil as it has a propensity to be unstable and easily turns rancid if not stores correctly or consumed quickly.

Instead, opt for cold-pressed Sacha Inchi or Chia Seed oil, both of which have optimal omega 3 and 6 ratios.

Olive oil can also be used as it does not contain high amounts of either omega 3 and 6, therefore will not aggravate the problem further.

The table below will show you a quick and easy comparison of the most common omega 3 oils available.
