Matcha Latté Recipe

Matcha Latté Recipe

Matakana SuperFoods Organic Matcha Tea Powder is made from specially grown and processed young green tea leaves. Matcha contains less caffeine than coffee and is rich in antioxidants and the amino acid L-theanine, leaving you invigorated and focussed. The Chinese methods of preparing powdered green tea were brought to Japan in 1191 by Zen Buddhist monk Eisai. Traditionally used in tea ceremony rituals, matcha tea now has many applications and is an easy way to add phytonutrients to your everyday diet.

Importantly, matcha needs to be protected from oxidation to preserve its flavour and quality. Matakana SuperFoods’ special oxygen-resistant, metalised foil pouches are designed to maintain maximum freshness and potency, ensuring you get the best grade of matcha tea possible. Enjoy our high-quality Matcha Tea Powder in this simple Matcha Latte Recipe. You can also add it to smoothies, desserts or baking.

INGREDIENTS

½ tsp of our Organic Matcha Tea Powder
¼ cup of hot water (not boiling)
1 cup of your preferred milk
1-2 tsp Organic Coconut Sugar

METHOD

  1. Press the half teaspoon of Matcha Powder through a small sieve into a cup
  2. Add the quarter cup of hot water and stir vigorously for 1-2 minutes
  3. Heat 1 cup of your preferred milk in a saucepan (or heat with a milk steamer) and add 1-2 teaspoons of the coconut sugar to sweeten
  4. Pour the heated milk into the cup containing the tea

TIP: Use a milk frother once the milk is heated – to get a creamy effect. Dust the top with extra matcha powder for an enhanced matcha flavour.
