Matakana SuperFoods’ premium French Marine Collagen Powder is sustainably harvested pure hydrolysed marine collagen. Extracted using a gentle enzymatic process, ensuring the finished collagen has a unique amino acid profile.
The most abundant protein in the human body, collagen plays a vital role in maintaining overall structural integrity. As we age, our bodies produce around 1% less collagen each year. Marine collagen is high in Type I collagen, which comprises about 85% of the collagen in our bodies, and is highly concentrated in skin, hair, nails and bone.
Marine collagen has been shown to have superior bioavailability compared to other sources of collagen, which means that it enters the bloodstream more efficiently in order to replenish your body’s collagen levels. Nourish your hair, skin and nails by incorporating Matakana SuperFoods premium Marine Collagen Powder into your daily diet.
Does size matter?
The size of the hydrolyzed collagen does have an impact on the bioavailability of the product. In a nutshell, the lower the Dalton number (size of the molecule) the easier it is to absorb into the bloodstream. For example, Matakana SuperFoods’ Marine Collagen is low at 2000 Daltons.
Marine Collagen is comprised of type I collagen. Research suggests type I collagen is best for skin and is absorbed 1.5 times faster than type II and III, likely due to its low molecular weight and its similarity to human collagen. Type I collagen makes up the majority of the collagen found in the human body
