Making your own nut butter is simple, delicious and fun. What’s even better is that this recipe only requires two ingredients! Here we use our Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil which is abundant in medium chain triglycerides (providing a great source of energy), as well lauric acid which when transformed into monolaurin through digestion, acts as an anti-viral and anti-bacterial compound. Now that’s a nut butter worth sinking your teeth into.
Organic Nut Butter
3 cups of your preferred organic nuts
1 tbsp Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
- Soak the nuts overnight (for approximately 8 hours). This is said to break down the indigestible outer enzymes making it easier for your body to absorb the nuts’ nutrients.
- Dry the nuts in a conventional oven at 180degrees Celsius for 10-15 minutes.
- Blend the nuts in a food processor until smooth
- Add our Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and continue to blend until smooth
TIPS: You can add a touch of salt or cinnamon to the nut butter to your liking. Be sure to throw away the water that the nuts have been soaked in - do not drink it or use it in a recipe.
