FAQ's
Your pouches aren't biodegradable. Why?
Many of our products contain super nutrients like polyphenols and other phytonutrients. To ensure these nutrients are retained, we use premium, multi-layered, fully-lined metallised foil pouches. The internal compartment is lined with food grade plastic, so no metal or aluminium component comes into contact with the food.
Although biodegradable pouches may seem like the more environmentally friendly option, they're more porous and allow the food and powders to come into contact with degrading factors such as oxygen and moisture, therefore reducing the potency, quality and shelf life of the product. Anything other than fully metalized triple laminated foil is prone to early degradation. We also endeavour to avoid using single serve sachets due to packaging wastage and high carbon footprint.

What does the AsureQuality “organic” mark mean?
AsureQuality is New Zealand's most recognised name in food assurance and certification, and is backed by the reputation of being a New Zealand government-owned business.
When you see the AsureQuality “certified organic” mark on a product label, it means the producer has been independently audited and verified against strict organic standards. Specifically, it guarantees that:
• No synthetic pesticides, fertilisers, or GMOs have been used. It also covers the implementation of sustainable growing practices and, for animal products, that animals are raised humanely, fed only organic feed, and given no synthetic hormones or antibiotics.
• Independent verification has taken place - producers are independently verified and certified, not simply self-declared as organic.
• Full supply chain integrity is maintained - from the farm or orchard through to the factory, solely organic inputs and processes have been used. Every organic producer is audited in person every year.

Australian Orders
All Australian orders over AUD$100.00 qualify for free shipping.
Order values under AUD$100 incur a flat shipping fee of $15.
Expected dispatch time is 1-3 working days unless there are issues beyond our control. Orders are shipped via DHL or AusPost.
UK Orders
All UK orders are shipped via DHL with a flat shipping fee of £17.50.
UK customers please note that we are unable to ship overs over £135 (including the price of shipping), so please keep the value of your cart to £85 or less to avoid issues.
Expected dispatch time is 1-3 working days unless there are issues beyond our control. Orders are shipped via DHL or AU Post.
Expected delivery time is 5-10 working days from date of order.
International Orders
Middle East tracked NZ$45.00.
Philippines tracked NZ$40.00.
Rest of the world tracked NZ$35.00.
International orders are shipped via DHL. Expected delivery time is 5-10 working days for most destinations, however, it can be 10-14 working days for more remote locations. We also reserve the right to charge additional shipping fees depending on the weight, volume and delivery location for your order. We will contact you to confirm shipping costs before processing your order if this is the case.
UK and International orders may attract local customs taxes or duties on arrival to your country. These taxes/duties are required to be paid by the purchaser and are not the responsibility of Matakana Superfoods. No refunds will be issued for orders where tax/duties remain unpaid by the purchaser. Please check with your local customs agency regarding the tax/duty likely to be charged prior to ordering.
Shipping Terms & Conditions
Matakana Superfoods is open 5 days a week, Mon-Fri. All orders placed over the weekend will be processed the next working day.
When you place an order you have the opportunity to state instructions for the courier to leave the parcel somewhere on your property. Please note that you do this at your own risk and there is no way to claim your goods should they not arrive, or are stolen.
Once your order has been processed and dispatched from our website we are unable to intercept the parcel, so please ensure the contents of your order are correct at purchase and that the correct address and delivery details have been included at checkout.
Cancellation, Return and Refund Policy
We hope that you are happy with your purchase but should you wish to return any item to us, we will be happy to refund or replace a product subject to the following conditions:
- We will provide a full refund or replacement (at your election) if the quality of goods delivered is unacceptable (we may request photographic proof). This is on the condition that you contact us within 24 hours of receiving the goods either by phone or by emailing orders@matakanasuperfoods.com. We recommend you check the contents of your parcel prior to signing the courier.
- Before returning any goods, the customer must contact Matakana Superfoods by phone or email (to be obtained from the website).
- We do not accept cancellations once your order has been handed to our courier for delivery.
- We do not provide refunds for change-of-mind returns.
- All eligible refund requests will be processed within 30 days.
